Step Five: Fellowship

            As a new believer in the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal savior, you are now part of the fellowship of the people of God.  The word fellowship is made up of two words, “fellow” and “ship.” Fellowship is a “getting on board” with fellow believers.

Fellowship means that you are in what the Bible calls the “body of Christ” or the family of believers. This relationship affords you mutual participation in some very valuable common interests (Acts 2:41-47).

            Some of the common interests you will be experiencing with fellow believers are mutual doctrine, worship and the sharing and receiving of resources.

And, you will now have the joy of welcoming new believers into this fellowship, a fellowship that is nonjudgmental and finds serving others very important. The Apostle Paul describes one role of believers in this fellowship as encouragement, an encouragement that “rejoices with those who rejoice and weeps with those who weep” (Romans 12:15).

So, when you fellowship come prepared to encourage your partners in the Faith that is in Christ Jesus. Also, when you fellowship come prepared to participate in the finest work you will ever be called by God to do (1 Corinthians 3:9)
